What is the benefit of some of the formulas changes?

In our efforts to continuously improve digestion for your pets, we optimized fiber levels in our formulas by using more whole ingredients like chickpeas and reducing others like beet pulp to improve on our guarantee of small, firm stool.

Why did we remove the name of WHOLESOME ESSENTIALS?

We felt that since all the ingredients in each of our recipes are wholesome and essential to the benefits of the recipe, it was unnecessary to call it out on just one of our lineups.

Are the Lamb & Rice Recipes still Limited Ingredient Diet?

Yes. Our Limited Ingredient Diets are designed to help minimize food sensitivities by limiting the type of ingredients used to those not commonly associated with food sensitivities. There will still only be one novel animal protein in each pack – lamb and lamb meal. The Venison Meal, Whole Brown Rice & Oatmeal Recipe and Fish, Whole Brown Rice & Potato Recipe will also remain as Limited Ingredient Diet with only one novel animal protein source. Although some formulas have additional carbohydrate sources (e.g. chickpea and split pea), we are still limiting the type of ingredients to those that are not commonly associated with food sensitivities (i.e. we still do not have wheat or corn).

What is the benefit of chickpeas and split peas in NUTRO™ Dog Food?

Chickpeas have an excellent balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Thus our formula can provide carbohydrates, protein, and fiber from a single, whole ingredient rather than fractionated ingredients that are high in only one nutrient.

What is the benefit of flaxseed in NUTRO™ Dog Food?

Flaxseed is used as a source of fiber, protein, and healthy oils. The soluble and insoluble fibers in flaxseed help us achieve better digestive health and stool quality in our formulas. Additionally, it contributes healthy oils, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, like linoleic acid, which help fulfill essential nutrient requirements and promote skin and coat health.

What is the benefit of alfalfa meal in our formulas?

Alfalfa meal is used as a source of fiber in our High Protein Grain Free Recipes. The soluble and insoluble fibers in alfalfa meal help us achieve better digestive health and stool quality in our formulas. Additionally, alfalfa meal is used in Large Breed Weight Management and Lite Weight Loss products as a fiber source and to help minimize the caloric content.

Is there a formulation change on wet?

Yes. We have increased essential nutrients in our wet dog formulas so that feeding guidelines can be tailored to the energy needs of inactive dogs while still providing optimal nutrition and meeting essential nutrient requirements.

No, our foods are naturally preserved with vitamin E. We never use chemicals like BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, propyl gallate or sodium hexametaphosphate in NUTRO™ Natural Dog Food or Cat Food.
